Gardens are definitely cool, even if they do tend to take a bit of work to manage. But at least you get some exercise and the fruits – sometimes literally – of your labor are on show for everyone to see. But what happens if you don’t have the space or the time to do the whole full on dig and dirt thing?
Well you could try one of these Grow Up Hydrogarden things. The product is basically a vertically stacked hydroponic garden which lets you grow and cherish your choice of flora in a very small space. Hydroponics substitute soil for nutrient laden liquid, so it’s not exactly a garden for the purist, but let’s face it, any greenery is better than no greenery.
And while you may not have the most luscious apple tree on the block, being able to pick your own tomatoes from your balcony is still pretty cool nonetheless.
The kit comprises a 20 gallon reservoir drum, five growing pots, pump pipe and test kit along with the Perlite growing medium and the food. Apparently in 6 weeks you can have yourself a fully grown garden in a space smaller than your Hi-Fi. You can get one of these for $299 all in.
