Nano Nails – your fingernail as a touchscreen stylus…instantly

Ladies, just how addicted to your smartphone are you? A little? A lot? Not sure? Well here’s a quick way to find out. If the thought of sticking a false fingernail onto your index finger to act as a touchscreen stylus excites you, then you’re probably a digital addict of some kind.

Nano Nails are stick on artificial fingernails which mimic the work of a proper stylus, to let you navigate and control your smartphone or tablet computer. The tiny device looks just like a conventional stick on nail, and can also be decorated in various ‘fashionable’ ways, but instead of just being there for show, they have work to do.

The developer, Dr Sri Vellanki, has already launched a range of unisex fingertip stylii called Tech Tips, but this version is definitely strictly for the ladies. There are a couple of downsides to converting your fingernail tip into a touchscreen stylus, not least of which is the fact that it will probably only last a week or so, before needing to be replaced. And you will, of course, have to fiddle about replacing them with adhesive every time.

But hey, that’s the price for progress, right? The product is available in packs of 4 for $9.99. They’re available in small or large sizes and you’ll need your own manicure kit (i.e. glue or adhesive tabs) in order to stick them on.
