We have to say we’re enjoying the latest Firefox 29 version a lot. The browser definitely seems snappier all round, and the new layout is excellent for maximizing screen space, especially for those on laptop computers. But the one thing we’re not so enthusiastic about is the fact that the devs removed the bottom status bar for some reason. Naughty.
We keep a lot of stuff down there, rather like a digital basement. Global clocks, tinyURL button, weather alerts and more, so the removal was a bit of a pain for us all round. But then thankfully we learned about Status 4 Evar and we’re happy again.
This free add-on returns our precious bar to the bottom of the browser screen, and also adds a couple of nice features like a new download progress bar and counter. You can also customize things like message display times and various bits and bobs, which actually makes it status bar on steroids. Hurrah for intelligent add-ons.
