Bloom & Wild – super fresh flat-pack flowers impossibly delivered through your letterbox

Sometimes it’s easy to see where technology has really made a difference to our lives, as with massive medical advances, but in other cases it’s harder to tell. But one thing we do know, this new flower delivery service manages to do something we thought was impossible, and yet it works, thanks to some clever bio tech.

Bloom & Wild is a new service which seems to have come up with the most ingenious delivery method ever known for cut flowers. The company actually packs the bouquet into a flat pack carton which can be posted through a standard sized letterbox. No more wondering whether someone will be home to accept the birthday bouquet. Amazing.

The secret sauce to delivering bouquet in a box apparently lies in the fact that the carton contains a whole nutrient eco-system, which feeds and hydrates them en route. The flowers are also sourced directly from carefully selected Fairtrade growers, so they’re literally arriving at your door straight from a field somewhere.

There’s no warehouse involved in the transit, which means fresher flowers which also should last much longer than store bought bouquets. The downside is you’re limited to the flowers which are available, and you’ll have to rely on the company’s curation service to select which ones you receive. But they typically will last for a week compared to a few days with conventional florists. Bargain.

Prices seem to be reasonable too, and you can subscribe to regular deliveries as well as celebratory gift deliveries if you’re a total petal head. We’re pretty impressed by the whole idea of flat pack flowers, it’s kind of like IKEA but with a nice smell. Check it out if you’re in the area (i.e. only UK at the moment).
