If you own an Android device and often copy or send links from one device to another, then this app’s for you.It is also particularly useful if you often find yourself wanting to save or send long URLs, such as Amazon or eBay products or auctions to other people with your phone or tablet. ShortPaste is a free and useful app that shortens a URL right after you copy it on your device. It’s powered by the popular bit.ly format, so the shortened URL will start with the bit.ly domain.

Once you have the app installed from the Play Store, you can go ahead and highlight any URL from your browser (or any other source) and copy it. The app then shortens it for you automatically and then gives you a notification on the status bar.

When you paste the copied URL, it will paste with the shortened bit.ly version. The example below is a pasted URL in Google Keep.

Note that the app is set to run in the background and starts up along with your device. However if this is not your style, you can disable this from the settings page. Click on the gear icon inside the app and if you don’t want the app running in the background, slide the button to Off and uncheck the box next to Start on Boot.

You can also connect the app with your bit.ly account, if you have one. You only need to enter your bit.ly user name and API key, which you can find when you log in to your account. Once you have done this you can use the excellent Bit.ly statistics analysis to data crunch your selected links.
