When is a block of wood not a block of wood? Easy. When it’s a fancy techno gadget which will wirelessly charge your phone, and do lots of other cool stuff as well.

This W2 QI Wireless Charging Wood will not only charge your phone just by you dropping it on top of the block, using QI tech, but it also acts as an external Bluetooth wireless speaker and can even display the time if you ask it nicely. And if you fancy a bit of hands-free talking on your gently charging phone, you can use the integrated microphone and speaker to get the job done.

The device also contains a temperature monitor to let you stay updated with the ambient temperature, and it can accept a cable – gasp! – for the speaker function if Bluetooth is not your style. Oh and did we mention you can use it as an alarm clock as well? The wireless charging function works with all QI compatible devices, and the whole thing costs $98.
