Milktape – relive the glorious retro art style of mixtapes

milktape3

Remember when mixtapes used to be that ‘special‘ gift? If you don’t, go take a look at John Cusack in the excellent High Fidelity movie. They could mean so many things. It could just be, “I think these songs are rad” or it could say, “I think you’re rad.” Too bad it’s a dying art. Or at least it was. Milktape is reviving the mixtape as a form of communication for lovers and friends alike.

Milktape looks like a classic audio tape. The kind that had actual tape inside and was used to “illegally download” songs from the radio. It even comes in a plastic case, just like a real cassette. Of course, you’re saying, what I am supposed to do with a tape? Who even has a tape deck anymore?

Well, it’s only the outside that looks like a tape. It’s really a USB flash drive. So you can upload your special mix to it and pass it on to the recipient in grand retro style. What makes this a better option than say a cute USB drive is the fact that it’s small. Only 128 MB, which will hold about 15 songs, give or take.

Which means that every song you put on this is handpicked with love. No uploading entire albums and discographies. Just the songs that matter. Share musical radness with Milktape for only $15.
