Lumsing is not a name we’d heard before in terms of gadget accessories, but it’s one which we’ll probably remember from now on. The company supplies a range of products, including Bluetooth keyboards, speakers, and portable power bank chargers for phones and tablet computers. We took a look at one of the latter recently, and came away very impressed.
The Lumsing 10400 mAh Power Bank is billed as a ‘harmonica‘ style power bank, and it’s easy to see why. The product is shaped very similarly to a mouth organ, long and thin, which is a good format for this kind of tool. As you can see from our video review below, good looks aren’t the only thing nice about this portable charger.
Well it’s certainly one of the best looking power banks we’ve seen so far, with a deliciously elegant fascia, and a clear focus on attention to detail. What we mean by that is there are no rough edges in the machining, no cheap chrome bits and everything looks and feels like a quality product. Which makes a change at this budget end of the 3rd party accessory market.
The product ships with a user manual, USB cable and rather nice carrying bag, all wrapped up in a fancy box. Even before you’ve got the thing open you suspect that it’s going to work well. And so it does. We tested it out with a standard Android smartphone and it happily charged up the phone from 51% to 97% in an hour, which is excellent if you’re out and about and need some guaranteed power security.
The unit is not super lightweight, although that’s to be expected with 10400mAh worth of battery power, but even so it’s still very pocket friendly thanks to the shape. The device comes with twin USB slots (1A and 2.1A for larger devices), a simple LED indicator system and a button and that’s it really. But what else would you need (except maybe a flashlight, although we’re not sure that’s absolutely necessary on a power bank).
It’s always a nice surprise to find products which feature solid build quality and a focus on design details, and even more so when they work as advertised. Although we haven’t used the unit in anger much so far, our first tests have definitely made us comfortable with the fact that it should cope with most emergencies when it counts, and at a very competitive price. Nice.
