You know how easy it is to run out of power on your smartphone mid-way through the day? Usually at a time when it’s the most crucial you make that call, or check that message? Well here’s a tiny tool which will probably save your bacon in more ways than one some day.

We’re calling it the Samaritan Cable, because that’s what it feels like to us. You can use this OTG compatible wire as an emergency charging device. Just plug one end into the fading phone, and the other side (marked with the power symbol) into a strongly charged handset, and the full phone will immediately start charging the depleted one. It’s kind of like the phone charge equivalent of a hitchhike (‘hey buddy, can you spare a ride?‘).

So now just imagine you’ve got one of these $3.95 cables in your pocket at all times, and how you could score some serious brownie points in all sorts of useful situations. We’ll leave the details to your imagination. The cable can also be used to transfer data from one phone to another proper OTG style. Who said sharing wasn’t caring?
