NapAnywhere – at last a neck pillow that actually works?

Traveling is fun, but it can also be a bit of a drag if you’re going long distance and are forced to sleep en route. The problem is there’s no comfortable way to snooze on a plane, bus or car, even with one of the typical head pillows you can buy at terminals all over the world. But now an enterprising doctor thinks he’s got a solution.

The NapAnywhere is a clever little foldable neck rest which cradles your head on your shoulder so you can snooze when traveling without getting a deformed and stiff neck. The product is made of a soft outer shell which covers a stable but moldable inner frame. To use, just shape the thing to your head and shoulders and secure with the optional strap.

The cool thing is it can be reset to a handy bag friendly flat shape when you’re done, so you’re not faced with the hassle of having to stuff a bulky pillow into your bag or pocket at the end of the journey. The whole thing certainly looks like it could finally put an end to the crick neck you get after you’ve dribbled your way through the sleep session on a long trip. The product is available in five colors for $59.

  • I travel with one of these and have since the Kickstarter a while back. The problem I have with the unit is that it isn’t a perfect design yet. The instructions suggest looping the support strap under the opposite arm, but that angle is too high to place good tension on the neck rest. By trial and error, I have found it far better to anchor someplace lower – like around the opposite elbow, or to tie into the aircraft seat belt, so that there is enough tension pulling down and across to give a solid head rest (or it could just be that I have a big and heavy head!)

    • Oh nice feedback, thanks. :) So does it actually work better than a standard neck pillow to let you rest?

    • Far, far better than a traditional neck pillow in my experience. You should give the manufacturer a ring – with your blog exposure, they’d likely send you a test unit?
