Etree – the tree that gives Wi-Fi instead of oxygen

etree

There’s a meme going around that says something to the effect of, “If trees gave off Wi-Fi people would be more interested in saving them” which is crazy because we still need them for oxygen, another important life sustaining substance. With the Etree, you could actually get Wi-Fi as well as a host of other benefits, but not oxygen.

There’s no oxygen because the Etree doesn’t have leaves. Or really any living parts. It’s actually made of a metal trunk and a canopy made of solar panels. But it does provide shade which is nice. It also provides Wi-Fi, docking stations for charging, and water for animals. It’s great for public spaces and hopes to bridge the gap between technology and nature as well as promote community.

The first one of these just went up in Israel but it’s product that could easily find itself in a variety of locations. Museum courtyards, parks, those hideous “corporate parks”, basically anywhere it can get sunlight. It adds accessibility to a location without destroying what’s already there.  There’s no pricing information but you can contact the creators with inquiries.
