Memrise – who knew learning could be such fun? [Freeware]

memrise

Learning a new anything can be such hard work. Especially when you’re a working individual with a super busy schedule. Time is never on your side. But the Memrise web and mobile app turns learning into a fun game that can be practiced, or played, in just a few moments a day.

Memrise has thousands (around 300,000 at last count) of free courses across a multitude of subjects, although it does seem to feature more language type courses than anything else. The courses are all user created, so if you don’t see something you like, you have the option of creating your own from your own knowledge base, whatever that may be.

The fun part about this is that it has a reward system. It’s nothing like gift cards, but it’s still useful for helping you focus on your learning more closely. As you practice, you earn points. And also while you’re practicing, you’ll be presented with things you’ve learned before and earn bonus points for remembering them. Just like any good game.

Memrise is available via a web browser on the web, and also as free apps through the Google Play and iPhone App stores.
