LaCie Christofle Sphere – channel MC Escher in your office

Lacie Sphere on Desk

You never really think of external storage for your computer as beautiful. Usually they’re just functional. But the LaCie Christofle Sphere is an absolutely gorgeous marriage of art and functionality in the form of an external storage device.

The description of this item doesn’t even sound like it’s computer hardware. It sounds more like something you would read about in an Anthro catalogue, “Hand-crafted and silvered in France.” I own actual jewelry that doesn’t sound as fancy as that. The silver sphere connects via USB 3.0 and gives you 1TB of storage. These are not words that you expect to be coupled with something hand-crafted in France.

Lacie Sphere alone

The little sphere holds a pretty good amount of data. Of course for the very prolific computer users, 1 TB of storage isn’t really all that much but for the majority of homes and offices this would be a beautiful way to store photos and such. It’s so pretty. It also has automatic back up so nothing is ever lost, only forgotten. The LaCie Chriofle Sphere is $490.
