If you’ve ever suffered the run around on a company call center system, you’ll know just how annoying it can be. It’s not just the waiting on hold that’s painful, it’s also the fact that you usually have to listen to a repeated litany of inane corporate marketing ads or even worse, badly recorded musak. Now, thanks to a clever app, you can avoid all that and save your ears and your sanity.
Lucyphone is a new service which lets technology do the heavy lifting when you need to call up a corporate organization and want to avoid hanging on the line. Just use the service to call the company, and if you get put on hold the service will do the waiting for you, and once the human being arrives, they’ll call you back so you can conduct your business.
The service operates via a web app interface, but there are also free apps available for Android and iOS, so you can get all this no-wait loveliness even when you’re on the move. There’s also a version of the apps which come without adverts, for a small fee. Nice idea, although we’re not entirely sure how effective this sort of thing will be in real life. US only at the moment.
