Switchboard

Cringely mentions The Switchboard this week, and it’s interesting indeed. A free web based Java voice chat service. Register once and it’s accessible from anywhere in the world as long as you’ve got yer headphones and mic. No software download, no hassle. P2P technology apparently and includes nifty stuff like voice mail and email notifications.

Our plan is to create the easiest to use, free, browser to browser internet phone. How is the switchboard different from other internet phones? * it does not run silently in the background using up resources * it does not allow third party access to your computer * it does not require any installation
