So you thought GPS was only for getting you safely to your aunt’s house near the seaside? Wrong. They’re now starting to use it in upmarket toys. The new upcoming R.E.V. (Robot Enhanced Vehicle) is kind of a tiny version of the KITT car from Knight Rider, complete with weapons and attitude.

The product comes in two car packs, each of which can be set to autonomous play or control via a smartphone app. The idea is not only can you race them, but also fight, using Infra-red ‘laser’ beams and semi-autonomous aggression. The developers, WowWee, are trying to recreate the excitement of video games in a real life scenario, so you can enjoy racing and battling around the home or office. We think it’s got potential, especially since the product includes games like Capture The Flag and Last One Standing. Expected price when it’s launched later this year will be around $119 or £99.99.
