WhatSim – the cheap SIM card designed for unlimited WhatsApp chatting only

whatSIM

There’s clever, and then there’s really clever, and the new WhatSim is a very smart product indeed. Capitalizing on people’s need to stay in touch when traveling without breaking the bank, this new SIM card service for mobile phones provides an ultra cheap global WhatsApp chatting platform for all.

The idea is simple, but brilliant. You buy a SIM card (all formats of SIM are included, nano, micro and standard) for a set price of €10, for which you get a year’s worth of completely unlimited and free WhatsApp text chat wherever you roam.. There’s no monthly fee, or expiry or fixed costs. Suddenly SMS texting looks very expensive, especially when they rip you off so much when you’re roaming abroad. Now you can stay in touch via text chat for ultra cheap.

The other nice thing is the SIM is actually only €5 to buy in developing countries, but still gives the same unlimited chat functionality, which is a neat touch. You can also do a recharge and buy credits which will let you send voice, video and photo messages using WhatsApp, so you’re not limited to text only if you’re willing to pay. The service is supported by 400 mobile operators in 150 countries, so there should be no reason not to get chatting on your travels.

This is actually a perfect SIM card for those people lucky – or clever – enough to own a dual SIM, dual Standby phone, because you can keep your usual SIM in one slot, and the WhatsApp SIM in another and suddenly you’ve got the best of all worlds. Unlimited roaming chat, instead of expensive roaming SMS charges, and also calls at your typical traveling rate. Oh and do remember that WhatsApp currently has over 700 million active users and more than 30 BILLION messages are exchanged every day. Powerful.
