SlimJet Browser – fast, compatible and versatile web surfer [Freeware]

slimjet

One of the big secrets of happy web use is always to have a second web browser available so you can do those things you sometimes need in a hurry. Like logging in to a website or service with a different account name, or checking up on simultaneous options like airfares. But the key thing is the second browser has to be fast.

The Slimjet Browser from Austin, Texas, is based on top of the open source Chromium platform, which is the same one used by Google Chrome, and it shares some cool features. For one thing it’s very fast to load, which is great if you’re just doing a quick check of the local weather or something which you don’t want to waste a big browser launch on.

It also supports the full set of Chrome add-ons via the store, and has lots of cool features included such as a form filler, Facebook integration, web page translation and video download. The browser also runs on Linux as well as Windows, which is nice if you’re into the penguin as your main conveyance. And of course it’s free of charge. Check it out.
