Miniaturization is getting just a little ridiculous. First the boffins at Michigan U. create a computer smaller than a grain of rice, and then we find ourselves marveling at the fact that someone’s actually squeezed a full Windows 8 onto a device the size of stick of gum. Of the two feats, we reckon the last one is actually more miraculous, considering how bloated Windows is right now.
The Meegopad T01 makes no claim to be a complete desktop machine, you still need to hook it up to a nice fat HDMI compatible screen, and throw in a keyboard and mouse, but it’s still very impressive.
Rather like the HDMI Android sticks we’ve reviewed in the past, the device comes with a USB port for accessories, but also features an on/off button, which is a nice touch. It features 2 GB RAM, supports WiFi and Bluetooth and has a microSD slot too.
Quite why anyone would want to run Windows on a stick device is anyone’s guess, but we reckon there are all sorts of strange people out there who need pain in their lives. Just to make things even more interesting, you can apparently also install Android on the quad core powered product, although we’re not sure if that means you have dual boot functionality. The thing will set you back $109.99. Good luck.
