Cruz – vintage cycling with a modern electric update

cruz

You have to give it to them, there are some product designs which really move out of the box, and this new Cruz electric bicycle is one great example. They could have sat down and created a boring grey and chrome pedal machine with a stodgy battery pack and all the character of a dead haddock, but no, they decided to go all Loony-Tunes and craft something formidable.

The e-bike has some pretty decent specs. It runs for a 30 mile range from that strange IronMan silver battery pack, and can top out at 20 mph in street legal mode. For off-road use you can get 36 mph out of the 3000 watt motor, but we’re thinking you’ll not be wanting to do that too often.

It also features regenerative braking, comes in a range of pop art colors and the battery can be charged up again in around 2 hours. It’s got Brooks Brothers’ saddle and grip leatherwork, and those Fat Frank tires are bound to impress down the strip.

The only thing we find a bit disturbing is the price, which at $4,995 is only slightly less than buying a very nice looking Harley Davison on Craigslist in order to live out your wildest dreams down Route 66. But hey, YOLO, right?
