Nymph Lamps – alien plant or lighting?

Nymph Lamp in use

A lamp can do more than just shed light. They can cast a picture on the wall with illumination. The Nymph Lamps are artistically designed, natural art pieces that can double as reading lights.

The Nymph Lamps look quite a bit different from traditional lamps. The handmade creations resemble alien plant life and unless you know it’s a lamp, you’re more likely to guess you’re looking at a strange sculpture. In a way you are. The head of the lamp is made from coconut with a thousand holes drilled into it. The body is where the wires and stand are and is made from varnished corks and suede so the lamp doesn’t even feel like a lamp.

The end result to all of these strangeness is beautiful patterned lights. The lights come through the holes in the coconut making for unique low light. This isn’t enough light to do complex work in, it’s more like mood lighting, very intimate. Each Nymph Lamp is unique, one of a kind. They vary in price and style but Nymph Lamps start at $199.
