Unshredder – piece documents back together without all the work

unshredder in use

When something is shredded, generally that means that it is gone forever. That’s sort of the entire point of it. But what happens when you shred something important? Instead of spending hours trying to piece the parts back together, you can download Unshredder, the program that puts together documents for you.

This software was developed for criminal investigators because piecing shredded documents back together isn’t impossible but it takes a lot of man hours to do. It’s a really complex jigsaw puzzle and like most things of that nature, the computer does it better. Which is great because it will solve a problem of human error: you accidently shredded something you didn’t mean to.

The program works on desktop computers. You have to scan in your destroyed files with special paper trays and the windows based software puts it all together for you. This product is meant for the use of companies and charges a monthly license. Still, it’s a useful innovation and you never know when you might need it. A monthly license starts at $90.

  • Great! Now I need a shredder that also incinerates.
    It’s not a novel idea:

    • Nah, just buy a fireplace. :)

  • How well does this work on the contents of my compost pile? :-)

    • Your compost pile is a rotten waste of time, I’m afraid.
