Scratch – the website to teach kids the idea behind coding

Scatch build space

These days, even having a bit of understanding of what coding is and how it works will help you in a variety of ways. Scratch is a free website to help the youngest learners start to understand the basic concepts of coding.

Scratch is a program that lets you create short interactive programs by using a variety of commands. There are a finite amount of commands however, they can be moved around, mixed up and interact with each other in a number of ways. This program does not teach actual coding (no Java, HTML, or even C++) instead it focuses on concepts like creativity and reason to help creators better understand the basics behind the practice.

The website is aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 16 but anyone can access and benefit from what it has to offer. It comes in a variety of different languages so people from all over the world can enjoy. The website is completely free and you can visit it for a quick trial run or just tuck in for a bit of creating right away.
