Netflix Socks – the DIY project for binge watchers

Netflix socks in use

We’ve all been there, sitting on your couch, watching Netflix and the next thing you know, you’re out like a light. When you wake up, you’re five episodes deep and your popcorn’s gone all cold and gross. Netflix understands which is why they’ve put out the specs for Netflix Socks, the socks that will stop your program when you fall asleep.

The only thing about this is that it’s not a product. It’s a project. The website gives you the directions on how to make your own Arduino infused socks so you never miss another group of episodes in a row again. In order to do this project you’ll have to know a bit about programming, building, and maybe knitting if you want the cool Netflix themed socks.

The entire project is laid out for you, step by step so you don’t have to know how to DIY completely but you will have to be able to use a soldering iron and read instructions. The socks work by sensing movement. When you’ve stopped moving, they send a signal to stop Netflix. If you’re looking for a fun project to get started with electronics, this could be the one.
