Precious Plastic – learn how to turn your garage into a recycling workshop

Precious Plastic creations

Recycling is a pretty common thing but even though everyone knows about it, there’s still a ton of plastic waste that ends up in landfills or just strewn about the city because people are also lazy. If you want to be a little bit more hands on with making the earth a better place, check out Precious Plastic, the site that will help you make your own recycling center.

This website is like a little video course only instead of just coming out with a new skill, it shows you how to make your own little recycling workshop to breakdown and refashion plastics into cool new things. The plans are totally free and open source. You just need to supply the physical parts and gumption to build.

Each step for building is outlined for you and although the finished products are specialized for the job, the parts are not and can be found locally. The site also provides information on what plastics can and can’t be recycled. Once your machines are ready though, you’re can make a variety of products from 3D printing filament to toys. If you’re interested, check out the Precious Plastic website.
