FreedomPop – take your phone everyone, really!

FreedomPop in use

Mobile phones have mostly overtaken the market on telephone communications. Everyone has one, not having one makes you weird and unusual. Despite being mobile though, mobile phones don’t really go everywhere and using them outside of your country can leave you with some heavy fees. FreedomPop is the free cell phone service that lets you go anywhere.

This SIM card works with unlocked smartphones and will allow you to make “free” calls anywhere in the US plus 25 different countries. It also includes text and data so you can stay in contact with your loved ones while globetrotting without breaking the bank.

Basically this is really just a prepaid service with international appeal. Plans start at really low price points but you don’t get much bang for your buck either. If you’re doing some traveling outside of the country, and you want to make sure that people will be able to reach you or vice versa, FreedomPop might be a solid service for you. You can get started for $4.99 but you have to provide your own phone.
