Shut-App! – now you have all the answers to all the stupid comments

shutapp

We’ve probably all faced a situation where someone we’re talking to comes up with a popular, but completely mistaken, viewpoint on a subject. And even if we know the truth, we just can’t remember the facts or phrase it the best way to clear things up. Well this clever new app is hopefully coming soon to solve the problem.

Shut-App! is a crowdfunded smartphone app which will contain facts and figures on a large selection of the most contentious topics, from sexism to climate change. It will even cover more trivial stuff like Game of Thrones. The idea is if you’re faced with an example of stupid, bigoted or just completely wrong ideas, you can drag this app out and gently but authoritatively correct the mistake in question. And no, preferably not with a condescending sneer on your face.

Clever idea. The app is almost at its goal, so it looks like it will succeed, so it will be interesting to see how it can help debate where it counts. Of course, cognitive dissonance being what it is, we all know that facts rarely make for a viewpoint change, but hey, you’ve got to try right?

Support it here.

[PS. We are not liable for any damage done to phone or person, arising from the application of this app, which results in the user coming off as a smug, ‘know-it-all’, totally annoying jerk.]
