Shotblocker – take some of the pain out of medicine

shotblocker

No one likes getting shots. They hurt but getting sick is worse so we just have to deal. There may be a way to lesson how awful they are though. The Shotblocker is a small gadget you can use to help trick your body into not noticing a shot by making it generally irritated.

This is marketed towards children but shots don’t stop hurting just because you’re old enough to vote now. It’s a u-shaped pad with a prickly side. In order to use this you press the skin in the area you’re getting the shot at with the prickly side. These points are not sharp enough to break the skin but they can disrupt the nerves enough that the body can’t tell it’s getting the shot.

This all needs to be done quickly to work but if you have a child that is shot shy (or if you have a little trouble with needles) then this little device may help make those trips to the doctor a bit easier. The Shotblocker is $5.41.
