Media Bias/Fact Check Add-On – check this before you hit share

man-reading-news

After the election, there’s been a lot of talk about the media in America. People are questioning bias, discussing the issues with fake news sites and generally bringing to light the issues with online media today. Which is great! Not everyone is great at recognizing bias or fake news but not to worry, there’s a Chrome, and soon Firefox, add on for that. Media Bias/Fact Check Icon is the add on that lets you know if a news source is good or junk.

The add on uses information from the Media Bias Fact Check website so every news site you land on won’t trigger the add on but it will catch many of them. It gives you a quick clear reading so that you know where the bias of the site is (left, right, or center) or if they are satire or not.

This isn’t a perfect tool and it leaves a lot to be desired but something as simple as this may help stem the spread of inaccurate, or at worst, false news stories through social media. Media Bias/Fact Check is a free add-on.

Moreso than fake news or memes, I have been appalled by the collusion, cover-up and the divisive/hateful rhetoric of the US’s Main Stream Media as it involved the Hillary Clinton campaign. Her foundation (selling US policy for foreign money), her private server and related lies, collusion with the media (if it wasn’t already obvious) uncovered by wikileaks, wikileaks itself, her health issues, cheating on debates and so. much. more. A near complete blackout of this very important news.

If this wasn’t bad enough, tech companies like Twitter, Facebook and Google damaged their reputations (going forward) for their manipulation of the news to favor Clinton, banning users, search manipulation, trending manipulation.

The focus on “fake news” is to help cover up the near-criminal activities of a George Soros-type propaganda effort on the American Public. This is the real story but they keep pushing the “fake news” narrative in what will be a 4-year war on on the truth.

I encourage you to check out Blue Feed Red Feed as it illustrates how media was funneled on both sides through Facebook, specifically, as well as explains the tech behind it. Which is to say, this effect was not a conspiracy, it was largely a failure of connection between technology and the user.
