Internet Lemonade – in the future, everyone will know what it tastes like

A couple of weeks ago there was a viral Tumblr post in which America found out that the rest of the world doesn’t know what lemonade is. Apparently a lot of people think it’s Sprite but that’s not at all what lemonade is. I don’t know if that’s the reason why researchers figured out how to send the taste of lemonade through the internet but I’m going to assume it is.

The technology uses sensors to record the pH of a glass of lemonade. Then it sends that information to special cup which uses LED lights to mimic the color and then an electrode stimulates the taste buds to fool them into thinking they’re drinking something sour but it’s really just water!

The only thing they’ve done so far is the lemonade but could you imagine a future where this can be used to mimic other things? It’s still in the testing phase and isn’t anywhere near perfect yet. Check out the video below to see it in action.
