What Is My Movie – no matter how badly you explain the plot, this site will find the movie

We’ve all had that moment when we could remember every detail of a film except for the actual name of the movie. This is frustrating when you’re trying to recommend it to someone who has never seen it before. What Is My Movie is the site that lets you describe a film to help you figure it out.

To test this out, I searched for “cartoon movie about wizards and Nazis”. The film I was thinking of was Ralph Bakshi’s Wizards. It came up as the first hit. When I tried a search term that fit the profile for multiple movies, it didn’t get the correct movie as the first pick, but it was still on the front page.

Even if you’re not looking for a specific movie, this is a fun way to play “explain a plot badly” with yourself to see just how creative you can get. Even without actors or character names, the algorithm is able to pick up films that match the description. It’s a fun website, check it out for free.
