We usually like to keep it lighthearted around these parts but there’s a pretty heavy rumor going around right now. You’ve likely heard of the Blue Whale game, the app that’s driving teens to suicide. The good news is that it’s probably not real, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t talk about it.

There’s a number of news reports from all over the world speaking on this game. Allegedly, the app asks teens to do 50 weird and increasingly dangerous tasks that end in suicide. There is no proof that this app exists but there is proof that there are forums set up that promote suicide on the web.

So even though this app is not real, please pay attention to your teens and talk to them. There are a lot of places online that promote self-harm as an option for dealing with life’s problems and even though this app is bogus, the threat is real. Be mindful, stay safe.
