Human Powered Society – is a future where we generator our own power possible?

The future is in sustainability. Most people are familiar with wind and solar power and both of these are great but have you considered human power? A couple of researchers want to answer the question of whether we can live solely on human power and have mapped out a plan to test it.

When we say human power we don’t mean the Matrix pods. What these researchers are actually talking about is kinetic energy created by movement. This isn’t a novel idea, we’ve been operating machinery this way for some time but it’s greatly fallen out of vogue in modern society. This system would call for people to agree to work out at the gym to power homes.

In theory this would work, probably, but there are some issues. One, not everyone can produce energy through physical labor, or at least not enough sustain them which means that this, as currently set up, is not accessible. Secondly it calls for two to six hours of power generating per person, per day. Which seems like quite a lot. You can check out their ideas on the website.
