BoKlok – make your next house IKEA

You can buy all your housewares, furniture and fixtures from IKEA, have you thought about buying a house from them? It turns out the famous furniture baron has a line of prefab homes made for people just starting out. The BoKlok is a series of homes you can pick out of a “catalogue” and have built to suit your needs.

These are small homes but they are built with the intention of being a place for homeowners to start, not end up for life. In fact there are levels to the homes that grow as your family grows. Buy when you’re single? Move up to a flat when you have children.

It’s an interesting concept when it comes to small homes and feels more like the catalogue homes of the 30s than it does part of the tiny house movement. The homes are made from wood and made to stay put. They look, when built side by side, like housing developments. Check out the website for specific prices and availability.
