The Great 78 Project – check out this massive music collection

The internet has a short attention span but its memory is very, very long. Things that would have been lost to the passage of time are scanned and saved on servers so that future generations can enjoy and learn from them. The Great 78 Project is fighting to preserve the music by taking it digital.

This massive collection was originally recorded on old 78s, a form of record, and contain a wide variety of different sounds including jazz, opera and much, much more are all being ripped from the old records and put into digital format for the curious

The records have some well-known acts to them and are awesome for people who love music or are just curious. You can download them for use, or just listen to them online. The copyright information is included with each record. Go waste some time listening to the sound of yesterday.

Donyae’s love for technology is based on a need to survive our future robotic overlords. Know thy enemy as you know yourself. But since even odds are on the zombie future, she has also learned how to prepare squirrel. You can find her on Facebook until the robots – or zombies – rise up.
