Tribalingual – this website wants to revive dying languages by giving people a way to learn them

Most language learning courses are focused on the major spoken languages around the world such as English, French, Japanese, etc. This startup went a totally different way. Tribalingual is helping to save languages that are spoken by very few people by teaching more people to speak them.

This program is creating courses in languages that are quickly disappearing. Many of them are spoken only by indigenous people and as these groups get smaller and young people move away, the languages are becoming lost. In order to combat this, this website offers courses in them.

Although they are still working on the courses, they currently have a few available. Each course is taught directly by a teacher and students Skype with them for their lessons as well as do independent study work. Courses are offered in four and ten-week increments and Skype sessions are set up individually. Check out the languages offered on the website. Prices start at £180.
