Unshrinkit – return sweaters back to size after laundry mishaps

If you do laundry then you know that you can’t wash and dry wool and other natural animal fibers as you would cotton or manufactured blends. If you didn’t know that then I guess you’ve learned something today then. If you’ve ever accidently shrunk something, try Unshrinkit, the liquid that will un-shrink your clothes

So this does not work on felted clothing, that is to say, extremely shrunken wool knits. The formula helps to stretch slightly shrunken clothing back into its original size, gently, so as not to pull it out of shape.

It supposedly helps to release the bonds of proteins found in wool and natural animal fibers so that they relax, returning the piece to its original size. You soak it in this solution, then stretch it out gently. Once it’s stretched back to size, just rinse with cold water. The product has low ratings but your mileage may vary because fibers are very, very different. Still, if you have a shrunken sweater that is too small to wear, what have you got to lose? Unshrinkit is $11.99.

Do you have any words of advice for our readers on how to get the best use out of your product?

      • Certainly. The best advice we can give is to apply the “stretch rule” before purchasing our product. If you can stretch the garment back to its original size but then see if shrink back when you release pressure, then Unshrinkit will be your go-to emergency sweater saver. If the garment does not budge when you try to stretch it, then it likely has felted or been damaged in the wash. In those cases, please do consider a donation to your nearest Goodwill.

Also, sweaters vary in size and thickness. Do make sure the sweater is fully immersed in the solution mix. It cannot work if the entire sweater is not exposed to the solution.

Hope this helps and thanks so much for mentioning Unshrinkit to your readers!
