Twitter Increase Limits – tweet with twice the characters

Not so great at Twitter because you need more than 140 characters to make your points? Well good news then, the long time limit has been increased to 280 characters, doubling the size of tweets! Whether you use them or not, now you have the option.

The limit set on tweets had to do with SMS limits which today are very much not a thing for most people. So it seems strange that Twitter would stand by it, other than the fact that it’s part of their whole shtick. And as it turns out, not really needed.

In tests, most people stuck to the 140 limit and of the ones that went over, the majority didn’t even hit the full limit. So if you’re worried this will change the landscape of Twitter, the good news is, it will probably be exactly the same. If you’re known to tweet, hop on and share extra words I guess.
