Outside of Auto – if you’re curious about shooting on manual this little website is for you

DSLR cameras are capable of taking amazing photos and the auto mode means that even if you don’t have much photographic knowledge, you can still capture a great shot, thanks to the built in sensors that set up the perfect shot. If you want to learn to DIY, check out Outside of Auto, the site that teaches you how to use your camera.

This website is built by Canon, popular camera company that it is and yes, it is likely to sell people on the idea of purchasing one of their high-quality cameras. Still, this website was actually really helpful in learning to grasp the concepts of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. All of which you need to understand to shoot on Auto.

The website explains the concepts and gives you tips. It allows you to play around with them using sliders to and taking phots that you can compare. Finally, there’s a little quiz where you apply the concepts you learned without the training wheels. It won’t turn you into a master photographer but it is a good place to start.
