Bike Sharing Gone Wrong – check out this photo series of bike sharing that want off the rails

Sometimes good ideas go horribly wrong. Bike sharing is a great concept that helps the earth and people who need to get around urban and even rural areas. By taking a bike, we cut down on pollution from cars and by sharing, many people can use a few items without major individual costs. This simple thing has gone very wrong in China though.

The concept of bike sharing is great but the market expanded way too fast in the country leaving behind literal mountains of abandoned or broken bikes. The branded bikes sit in large lots basically rotting unless they are taken in by another company.

The photos are absolutely wild. There are so many bikes that your brain has trouble seeing them as such. From affair in some images they look like a field of flowers but they are not, they’re rusting bikes! Some companies are attempting to fix them and there is still a market but there are way more bikes then people using them. Check out the images to see what happens when a good idea just goes off.
