Liquid Nanoclay – turn the desert green

Deserts are hostile living environments in part because you can’t really farm out there. Sand is just not great for growing much of anything besides rocks. Well, it turns out there’s a way to change dry sand to soil you can grow in. Liquid Nanoclay can turn the desert green.

This treatment uses a natural mixture of clay and water that is sprayed right over top of normal sand. There are no chemicals, it’s just laid down to create soil that retains water for growing. Using this system is more water efficient that traditional irrigation methods. Which is great because water isn’t something that’s in huge supply in the desert.

Applying the mixture to the sand envelopes the sand and creates a soil network that can retain water and hold nutrients. This can be used to turn areas that were once green but now are brown back to their former green states, giving us more land to farm or for nature to return to. You don’t want to destroy the whole desert though because it is a beautiful ecosystem all on its own. You can check out the website for more information.
