Resist – the app that makes you pay for distraction

Staying off the phone can be a struggle. After all, most of the apps we use are designed to keep us coming back for more over and over again. It’s not really your fault that you lose time scrolling social media or whatever. Still, you may need a bit of help to stop, Resist is the app that will help you kick the habit by making you pay for it.

The app has you set a timer for how long you want to stay off of your phone. If you fail then it sends an amount you pick to a charity of your choice. How much is kicking the habit worth to you? The app can help you focus for studying, work, spending time with people, or just finding your own peace of mind.

The app uses Stripe to make payments to the charities. The service is free unless of course you fail and hop on your phone in which case you will be charged whatever you agreed to pay. Download it in the Play store.
