Leitravelomobile

The Leitra Velomobile. A 21st century pedal powered shopping cart. The inventor has clearly never heard of Clive Sinclair’s doomed C5! And at €3,950.00, perhaps it’s just as well.

The LEITRA is a new type of non-motorized vehicle designed for commuting, shopping, distribution of light goods, recreation and touring. The international term for this type of vehicle is a velomobile. It is fast, but not designed specificly for racing.

  • The Sinclair was a poorly-conceived electric trike whereas this is a pedal trike that has been around for about 10 years now, I hear they sell rather well and a number of manufacturers make that type of vehicle in Europe.

This must be just a new model

  • The Leitra has beeen around a lot longer: I saw my 1st one in the early spring of 1987. It has been in continous production and refinement since then, which also includes some aesthetic fine tuning over the last months. The pictured Leitra is a “Leitra Sport”. Take a thorough look at their web site.

  • Have you ever heard of the Dutch Alleweder?
