Photographs of Films – check out this cool photography project

Mary Poppins by Jason Shulman

Movies are a wonderful thing. Full of story and excitement. There’s nothing like watching a good film and then chatting about it with like minded folks. How a film looks is important too. Lighting, sets, colors, all play a role in telling the story. Jason Shulman looks at this in a whole new way with his Photographs of Films project.

The artist has taken long exposures of classic movies. Basically set his camera up in front of the monitor and took a photo for the entire movie. The end result is the film in a single frame and they are beautiful.

There’s a wide variety of films and end results. In some you can see clear shapes of figures and sets. In others, just a photo of colors, like an abstract watercolor. Really worth a look if you like movies. Check it out and see what you can see.
