Filter Bikes – clean your air as you ride

Riding bikes is a great way to be more eco-friendly when you travel short distances but breathing in emissions from all the cars on the road is seriously bad for your health. Three students have come up with a brilliant solution for that with the invention of the Filter Bikes.

The device is actually a filter system that attaches to the bike. It consists of the filter which is made of cotton and activated carbon fabric as well as a series of fans that power the device and help blow filtered air onto the rider. As they travel, the air is cleaned before reaching the them allowing them to breath fresher air.

This is a simple idea that may have a future with other transportation types but for now, the bike version is all that exists. Although not on the market, it is currently projected to cost just $13.40. Thought the device looks a bit ungainly but certainly not something that interferes with the function of the bike and you’ll get cleaner air to boot. Check out the video to see it in action.
