The most marvellous Mike Haney of Popsci has produced a fascinating account of building a DIY LCD Photo Frame out of an old decrepit IBM laptop, some string and a copy of the free Slickr screensaver. Super delicious for just $80.00 and a packet of crisps, Mikey.
But the real star of this project is Slickr…a screensaver that displays a constantly updated slideshow of images from my account on Flickr.com, a free photo-sharing site. I can even set it to show only shots that I’ve tagged “formom,” so any time I upload a photo with that tag, it appears on Mom’s mantle.
I’ve got the Philips Digital Picture Frame, brilliant but not brilliant enough to run Slickr. A good reason to DIY. Thanks Red.
