Hd1degausser

The Garner HD-1 Hard Drive Degausser. Pieces of equipment you don’t want on your desktop…Part 1. $2,299.99.

The machine effectively erases all metal particle formats, including Beta SP, Beta SX, Digital BetaCam, D1- D5, Travan, and all 4mm and 8mm data cartridges. Please note that hard disk drives cannot be reused after they are degaussed, as the degaussing operation erases the servo tracks written on the drive at the factory…Operation is simple and safe and is achieved by rotating drives or media over the circular erase zone located in the center of the degausser.

ooh, nice. Software that makes it impossible to recycle old hard drives. Better just throw them in the landfill afterwards then. Just what the planet needs right now…

I put an entire computer on one of these things when I worked for a large datacenter. While it was on. It lived, but sadly, did not restart.
