Plug ‘n’ Play Cricket. Cricket, for the sadly uninitiated, is that bizarre occupation whereby two teams of supposed grown ups can compete for days and still end up with a tied game. I mean, who came up with that genius proposal, eh? Anyhoo, through the miracle of technology, you can now play for weeks in your living room until death or a nearby Madonna concert intervene. Complete with bat, ball and a box full of infinite patience. You’re gonna need it. £39.95.

Well, when it comes to batting, ultra-responsive motion sensors in the base console react to the timing and force of your swing. Simply stand a few feet away from the base unit and ‘wallop’ the ball. Once you get the hang of swinging early and reacting to spin bowlers and fast bowlers you won’t believe how realistic this pioneering plank of plastic is. It even features nifty Block and Run keys. Thankfully fielding is automatic, which is just as well because you wouldn’t want to be leaping around in front of the telly.

  • Cricket is about as exciting as baseball. You know, that game that takes three hours, with 7 minutes of total action. The rest of the time is used to scratch your groin, pull your cap, spit, and bellow at the vampire, (sorry,) umpire.

  • Oh dear, yet another stupid tosser who does not grasp the simple concept of scoring runs and getting out.

  • Is he a full tosser?
