USB Calipers

USB Measuring Gauge. Let’s assume for the sake of charity that you don’t need the PC and USB port to do the measuring, just for the downloading of previously captured data. Otherwise this doesn’t make a huge amount of sense, does it? However if you’ve got a lot of measuring to do then this has got to be a pretty cool way to get all that information into a computerised form quickly. [via everythingUSB]

MarConnect USB Interface Kits enable universal assembly of multiple measuring systems for data transmission. With additional hubs, up to 100 measuring devices can be connected using USB interface, and software can transfer measure values directly Excel spreadsheets or text files. Measuring sequences can be activated either at gauge, on PC, or via a foot switch.

This is useful if you have a sample of 100 or so parts and you want to collect stats on the process to ensure that it stays centered.

  • Greg

works good for in process spc gaging data collection is put in a file automatically.

  • This… is the answer to all my prayers!

I am staring at several rooms full of junk I need to measure (currently with a manual vernier caliper) write down the numbers, AND THEN enter into a spreadsheet for my reuse ideas website Junkk.com.

Pleeeeease let it be available in the UK!!!!! I may yet see my kids again.

Wow, that’s a lot of measurement nerds in one room, eh? :-)

  • By my estimate, I make it four (so far).

    Couldn’t resist:)

  • Red

Heh Peter, so how many measurement nerds in an acre? :-)

  • Rather depends on where the acre is, and what the measurement fancy of the specific nerd(s) may be.

Pop me in a field in Herefordshire with the sun shining and the birds singing, and all I’ll whip out is my deck chair to lie back and think good thoughts.

If, however, it is an acre of our local supermarket, I will be trawling those aisles with caliper, tape measure or ruler poised (usually chased by the manager who things I’m doing a Neilsen check for a competitor).

And once I have infected my fellow man with an enthusiasm for seeing re:fuse as a re:source and making stuff out of rubbish, you’ll have to climb over our kind just to get to your Yazoo Chocolate (makes great floor protectors) or Kelloggs Cereal (Magazine files – as we say, it would all just be junk but for that extra special k:)
