The Skyminder 500 costs £199.99 and the service subscription is £19.99 a month, so you really do need to feel quite vulnerable to justify one of these kits. How the SkyMinder 500 works. In the event of an emergency, simply raise the alarm by holding down simultaneously the two buttons, one located on each side of the SkyMinder 500…GSM mobile technology then transmits an alert via SMS to a Controller at the ERC, and voice communication is opened with the user to establish the nature of the problem. For the safety of the user, the Controllers microphone will initially be muted, and two-way voice communication will only be established if appropriate. In addition, GPS satellite technology means that the exact location of the user is available to the Controller via address and postcode and a detailed map on his computer screen.
